Sunday morning at the beach ⛱️

Are you like me and not been in the water recently? 🏊‍♀️

After a stormy few months, naff sea conditions, sewage, the lurgy to name a few. There are so many swimmers that have not been in the sea this winter 💙
There are so many reasons why we can't always get in the cold water and Christmas is especially busy, stressful and cold! ❄️

Don't beat yourself up if you're not swimming at the moment - just being by the water or taking a walk along the beach can really make a difference to your mood and wellbeing 💙

When the time is right and you get back in ...

🌟 add extra layers or neoprene so you can enjoy the experience rather than worry you will be too cold

🌟 Dip with a group, friends or with beach support to be safer, as the sea temperature will be a fair bit lower than your last swim 🧊

🌟 check in with how you are feeling and adjust what you wear and how long you stay in for

🌟 enter the water slowly to give yourself a chance to acclimatise and reduce the cold water shock

🌟 less is more - a quick dip is all you need for the wellbeing benefits, don't try to stay in as long as other swimmers. We are all different and it can change everytime we swim!

🌟 Get out of your wet kit and the wind chill asap, as you continue cooling for 20 mins after your swim

🌟 rewarm like a pro and bring all your warmest gear (love a hot water bottle!)

🌟 Go for a short walk to warm up if you are getting cold standing around chatting

🌟 enjoy a hot drink and a snack after whilst you warm up for half hour before you drive home

Watching the waves for half an hour was a great way to start the day 🌊

You don't always have to swim to enjoy the benefits of being by the water - getting out of the house and into the fresh sea breeze at the beach really made a difference to me this morning 😃 ☀️ ⛱️
