Where do we meet?
Our coaching location is in the swim zone by West Beach on Hayling Island.
The swim zone is marked by white buoys and stretches 800m along the seafront from Inn on the Beach Pub (PO11 0AS) to Hayling Beach Cafe (PO11 0AG). Swimming around the buoys is approximately a 1.6km (1 mile) loop.
The meeting point is next to the wall of Inn on the Beach pub, at the west end of the swim zone.
When you look out to sea, the wall and pub will be on your right-hand side – look out for the blue Swim Wild Breathe Free pop-up sign.

What swimming kit do I need?
As with any new activity, you need essential items and optional extras you can add over time, depending on your preferences.
Essentials: swimwear, towel, warm layers, warm drink, and snack after the swim.
Recommended: bright swim hat, tow float, changing robe, and beach shoes for swimming or flip-flops to the water’s edge.
Please contact us beforehand if you have any questions or need kit advice.
If requested, we have a few spare towelling changing robes, basic tow floats, and swim hats.
For further info, check out our Swimming Kit Essentials on the website –
https://swimwildbreathefree.com/helpful-information/
Please note that items left on the beach or taken in the sea in waterproof bags are done so at your own risk. Valuables are best left at home or in the car.
What can I expect on the day?
Please plan to arrive early so you have time to find a parking space, pay for parking and change into your swim kit.
Look for the blue Swim Wild Breathe Free pop-up sign at the coaching location, and head over with all your swim kit.
Please change into your swim kit to be ready for the start time. Remember to keep warm with a coat or layers over the top.
Sessions will start promptly at the agreed time with a welcome chat and a short safety briefing.
There will be a few minutes to get ready to swim, and then all swimmers will enter the water together with the coach.
After the swim, there will be time to chat, ask questions and receive feedback.
What happens if there is bad weather and poor sea conditions?
One of the joys of outdoor swimming is that the sea is different every day, but the conditions can be unpredictable and change quickly. Your safety is our main priority, and sessions must be rescheduled if it is unsafe to proceed. Notice will be given as soon as possible if the coach needs to reschedule for safety considerations. This could happen when the coach completes the risk assessment a few minutes before or during the session, for example, if an active sewage release affects the swim location or there are thunderstorms.
Please see our Terms & Conditions for further information on cancellations and rescheduling sessions – https://swimwildbreathefree.com/terms-and-conditions/
What safety practices do you have in place?
Swim Wild Breathe Free has procedures in place to minimise the risks. Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) are reviewed and updated to ensure the safety of the coaches and swimmers.
Risk Assessments are undertaken at every location, alongside on-the-day safety checks.
All sessions start with a short safety briefing and update on the conditions expected.
In addition to the appropriate qualifications, coaches undertake enhanced DBS checks, safeguarding and child protection training.
Please email for a copy of the certificates.
